God, Darwin, the Military, and Homosexuality

By: George Wallace

I have three main thoughts on homosexuality. (a) Homosexuals have traditionally been set aside from the mainstream of society because they were seen as being non-contributors to population growth. They are non-breeders. Thus they decrease the safety of the culture, village, city, or state by not maximizing the population available to fight enemies. Today with global overpopulation, that’s not such a bad thing.

(b) Homosexuality exists on the bell curve of human behaviors. The vast majority of people are in the center and are heterosexuals, most of the time, or all of the time. The ends of the curve are minorities, by definition “different” from the majority.

(c) Human nature distrusts the “different”, the stranger. Always has, and most likely always will. It was a simple safety measure, protecting the individual and the isolated village against disease and injury. What is needed today is rational acceptance. This a social behavior question.

Nearly everything about sex is a social problem. Sex is not a particularly important religious problem. There are two easy solutuons. First, I suggest acceptance of God’s gift of free will for personal decision making. Second, I suggest could be simple thanks for decreasing the crowding of the schools and increasing the available apartments.

Someone will bring it up, so I’ll do so now. Yes, God’s pattern has been to use heterosexual union as a method of causing long term changes within the species. This is known as Darwinian evolution. The non-participation in heterosexual activity by anyone is a personal decision to remove a particular set of genes from the gene pool of society.

Therefore, if heterosexuals think homosexual activity is somehow “wrong”, then they should both thank Darwin for letting us know about how God’s Plan works, and thank homosexuals for not breeding. Thank them for not continuing the sets of genes which led to homosexuals.

Homosexuality is a self-limiting condition. Further, both homosexuality and war are conditions allowed by God over a very long period of time, observed in humans for thousands of years, and may in fact be God’s mechanism for removing on a regular basis some traits from the human genetic pool. Therefore, to that extent and for that reason, homosexuality and war are “natural” and “good” for the majority as a group, if a little rough on the individual.

It is my understanding that many, or most homosexuals believe that they were “made” that way, born that way. A part of the general animosity may be that many heterosexuals somehow believe that homosexuality is a learned behavior. I am not knowledgeable about this. I tend to doubt it, but I recognize the level of the fear.

There is also the strong fear that one’s expensive offspring will be, or even possibly become, a non-breeding unit. Think of child bearing and rearing as a defiance of death. Think of a child as an expensive old age insurance policy. Genetically, children are the human race’s answer to death. Many may fear that the time and effort that has been put into a child will be wasted if the child is homosexual and is not a breeder, not a weapon against genetic death. Homosexuality cancels the prepaid insurance policy.

Some last thoughts on this subject: If the existence of homosexuality is a part of God’s Plan, it seems to me that, at the least, it might not be such a good idea to persecute the individuals stuck with carrying out that Plan.

If homosexuality is God's mechanism of removing certain genes from the gene pool, it seems to me that encouraging such individuals to participate in such high risk activities as the military and wars may solve two problems with one situation.

Sin is that which interferes with God’s Plan. God might not like it. Or, God might not care one way or the other. Free will says that you have to make your own decision after careful thought and consideration, and be answerable to God for your personal actions.

He recently published a book on religion which lashes out at nearly all of the comfortable ideas about God, the trappings of organized religion, the layers of money sucking priesthood, and their departures from the fundamental ideas and messages of Religion. His pithy comments and suggestions for a return to a God-centered personal religion will outrage everyone. www.OhGodIsThatYou.com
