Pruning God's Garden of Souls, Part 2 Untouched by God

By: George Wallace

God has a Plan. And His Plan includes variability for our race starting, at the molecular level, at conception. We are a part of God’s Plan whether we like it or not. Does that make it tough on people? Yes, it does. The whole idea is repugnant.

It feels like being a white mouse caught up in some scientific experiment. Like being a mouse in a lab run by a make-up company. Like being a mouse and having face powder rubbed in your eyes three times a day. Living as a mouse in that lab until you develop cancer of the eyelids. I guarantee that the mouse doesn’t like it. This idea is messy. It is hard to believe that God planned this.

No, God did not start with the idea that women would suffer spontaneous miscarriages. God’s Plan also includes unintended consequences. It applies here. God’s Plan was to have a constant stream of genetic variability that allows our species, all the species, to adapt to changing conditions. Changing conditions like, wet tropical forests giving way to savannah grasslands due to mountains being uplifted by geologic tectonic forces and disrupting moisture bearing air flows across continental areas.

In other words unexpected consequences. Accept it, deal with it. God will do as God pleases. God’s will be done. It is as it is, as God wills it, not what we want it to be.

Soul Placement Plan #2. This idea could be a second kind of timed proficiency test.

Not that long ago, it was a common practiice not to formally name infants until they reached the age of five. Infant mortality rates were so high that until age five, a nickname would do. Birth certificates, when they first came into common practice, were commonly filled out with the phrase: “a male infant”, Baby ___Family Name___.” Assigning a name like “Baby”, was also a clear statement of the lessening of the emotional investment with the infant until it could “prove” itself by being tough enough and lucky enough to survive.

A few groups of people around the world did not even consider a child to be “human” until they reached about the age of five to seven years of age and could show that they were beginning to think beyond self. This at least seems reasonable and may account for so many societies world wide that did not even clothe young children if weather permitted.

Anyone who has observed infants for any reasonable length of time will know that infants are constantly learning. They learn as fast as their brains grow. Infants start off with a relatively small brain and skull. Still it is a skull that has a difficult enough time passing through their mother’s pelvis. It starts small when compared to their eventual adult sized brain.

Evolution has made us pay for that large adult brain with an extended childhood, a condition called neoteny, of many years. This gives the brain enough time to grow, and also requires an extended parenting period from the reproducing pair.

Note however that compared to other species, the human infant brain at birth is enormous. The brain has to grow so the infant can learn enough to become human and self aware.

It takes time, up to 25 years, to grow to this “awareness” size. It takes time to organize sensory inputs. It takes time to somehow get through the hormone driven emotional surges of the teen years. It takes time to get past the quick irrational actions that make young adults so accident prone. Rhese irrational actions also incidentally lead to a higher death and suicide rate. It takes time to be able to learn enough to be ready to be a tool of God.

Is it possible that God, too, waits to slap a child with some of His soul until that child achieves “self awareness”? Why not?

I’m not going to deny God this choice.

This concept accounts for those fortunately rare individuals that do not act as if they have a soul. Individuals that seem at an early age to have no feelings for others. They have no compassion for others. They are pathological social malcontents and criminals. To look into their eyes is like looking into the eyes of a shark.

They are truly untouched by God, missed, left out, fallen through a crack, or lost in the shuffle.
