Sin & Religious Houses of Prostitution

Sin may, or may not, be the same as a violation of societal rules and laws. The laws of society are a potpourri of historical remnants. The laws of society are sometimes related to religious laws. The laws of society are also a tossed salad. A tossed salad of conflicting human goals and premises that often are not rational. Social laws are as conservative and unchanging as religious laws. That is the reason humans have periodic political revolutions of one kind or another. In that limited context, societal laws are somewhat easier to change than religious laws.

I am trying to talk about religious laws that are even more inflexible, fixed, than the usual religious laws. I don't think God changes things very often. He is patient. He observes, learns and does not interfere. God's religious laws are, or are based on, His Natural Laws which we can observe and test.

God has laws for nonliving things like stars and planets, rocks and water. God has laws for living things, and the most important of these is the imperative for survival. All other laws are attached to that central support. Free will is the second level of God's laws for living things, as this conforms to His Purpose.

Sin is to voluntarily give up your ability to choose, or to live without freedom. If you are a slave, then sin is in being a willing slave. Sin is not attempting to escape by any possible means. If a prisoner of war, your duty is to attempt to escape.

If you are a wage-earner worker, and you reach a point where you feel you do not have the choice to quit your job. If you cannot tell an unreasonable boss to go to Hell without passing Go. Then you are in a state of sin. You have lost, or given up your ability to choose.

Change your spending habits. Change your life style. Start your own business. Begin the process to become more independent. Do something positive.

Sin is selling your employer, or boss, sexual favors to get, or keep your job. This is losing belief in yourself. You believe that you can’t find a better job than you have now. You are proving by this act that you have at least one marketable skill that others are willing to pay well to share.

That alone should prove to you that you can make another choice. Prostitution by either sex, is a personal decision. Prostitution has been widely encouraged many times by organized religions. Prostitution brought money or goods to the temple and religious leaders. It is not a choice I suggest for anyone.

Selling one’s body in this way has been called a religious sacrament at many times and places. Temples were, in effect, religious houses of prostitution. Worshipers of both sexes went there to pay for sexual activities of many kinds to worship. I believe that your body is yours to use as you see fit. I know there are safer ways to make a living.

Obviously, in these modern times, with modern diseases, you need to responsibly protect yourself, and others. We now have higher risk factors than in the past, and conditions that call for very careful decision-making.
